Balbriggan Apartment Bathroom Renovation,
The Brief
Ide owns an apartment in Balbriggan. The Jack and Jill bathroom was the only bathroom in the property and originally contained a bath, with the WC and wash-hand basin positioned beside it. This made the room feel cramped and difficult to use.
As Ide rarely used the bath, she wanted to replace it with a spacious shower and make the bathroom feel more open and comfortable.
The existing layout left the WC tightly positioned between the bath and basin. Exposed pipework and an open-backed WC also made the bathroom difficult to clean and created several areas where dust and grime could collect.
Ide wanted to replace the original builder-specification tiles with high-quality finishes that would give the bathroom a timeless appearance. Most importantly, she wanted the bathroom renovated properly so that it would not need to be done again.

From concept to detailed specification
The layout was designed around creating a clean, spacious and easy-to-maintain bathroom. All plumbing and waste pipework would be concealed behind the walls, removing the exposed services that had made the previous bathroom difficult to clean.
We also needed to incorporate a shower enclosure that felt generous while still allowing the WC sufficient space.
This was achieved by relocating the vanity unit to the opposite side of the room. The change created enough space for the WC and shower to sit comfortably together while allowing both Jack and Jill doors to open fully.
By consolidating the circulation space into one central area, the room immediately felt more open and less cluttered.
The tiles were selected to create a timeless and coordinated finish. The feature tiles used within the shower and across the floor introduced subtle green tones, while the large-format white wall tiles reflected light and enhanced the feeling of space.
Precision on site
The project was completed over six working days.
As with all House of Byrne Bathrooms projects, the trades were coordinated by our Head of Delivery, Richard, ensuring that every stage of the renovation progressed efficiently and in the correct sequence.
The existing bathroom was completely demolished back to the original studwork and rebuilt properly from the ground up.
The Outcome
A Bathroom Designed for Everyday Living
The finished bathroom is bright, spacious and easy to maintain.
The new layout makes much better use of the available space, while the carefully selected tiles and high-quality fixtures give the room a timeless appearance.
It is a beautiful and practical bathroom, designed for everyday use and built to last.
